Parkview Apartments...
Thirty years ago, a local group of citizens from Dawson felt their was a need for affordable housing in Dawson. Dawson Housing, Inc. was formed and Parkview Apartments became a reality to provide affordable housing in our area. The Parkview Apartments complex is community-owned. The Membership Board consists of: four Pastors of the four Dawson churches that were in existence at the time the structure was built, four layperson representatives from each of these four churches, six Chamber of Commerce members, that are appointed by the Chamber, and four tenants representing Parkview Apartments. The Membership Board elects a Board of Directors to oversee the financial and maintenance responsibilities. Dawson Housing, Inc. employs a manager to administrate and oversee the daily operating duties.
Parkview Apartments consists of 36 one-bedroom apartments plus an additional storage area. Utilities are included in the rent. The building contains a laundry facility and a community room for social functions.
Many considerations are a part of making the choice to move to an apartment. Dawson has many services available such as home health care, private housekeeping services for hire, bus services for out of town appointments, etc., and the local Heartland Bus is just a phone call away. The Meals on Wheels service is available as well as Senior dining for noon lunches on weekdays at the City Building.
Parkview has hallways that serve as very good indoor walking areas. You would find a warm, friendly, caring, yet private environment. If you enjoy a little gardening, there is a large garden area on the north side of the complex.
